Movie of the Month: The Secret in their Eyes

Joy and I saw this at a Pixar last week and I have to say it really blew both of us away. Without spoiling too much of the film, I'll just say that it follows a retired lawyer as he tries to bring closure to an unsolved homicide case he dealt with years ago. The performances are pitch perfect and the film really takes its time to set up all the characters and their relationships with each other before things get dark and serious.

And let me tell you:  when things get dark, they GET DARK.  Like, Scorcese DARK.  The mystery keeps piling on then peeling away and by the end, your jaw is literally on the ground as you see exactly what happens to these characters you've grown attached to over the last two hours.  It's not all doom and gloom though....I was really surprised to find the audience laughing out loud several times during the movie and was in awe that the film could balance humor , drama, and noir so effortlessly.

Oh yeah, it also won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film (Argentina).  You owe it to yourself to see this film.  For more information on "El Secreto De Sus Ojos" click HERE:
